Troiku

chanting her mantra
leaves nodding gracefully
by the maple tree

chanting her mantra
barely a sparrow’s lilt
lazy afternoon

leaves nodding gracefully
momentary pause
praising the sun

by the maple tree
hum shanti shanti shanti
all-embracing joy

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu…Shanti Shanti Shanti

May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all. Peace, Peace, Peace.

Very nice feeling to this. The second stanza was slightly harder to get through as the rustling suggested something more than peaceful feeling, but as you know I enjoy reading your poetry.

I am so glad you commented, Hamish. “Rustling” was not what I had experienced …it was more a faint flutter, a wave as I passed by the tree chanting as if nature was chanting with me, bowing as I passed. I was not happy with this but posted it anyway in the wee hours of morning rather than wait a day or two. I think I have conveyed my experience better. Again, thank you for taking the time to comment!

What a beautiful troiku Cheryl Lynn. Full of spirituality, but even more full of you and the joy you bring to the world.

Thank you, Kristjaan. Your comment comes at an opportune time…this weekend my thoughts are seriously focused on what I want to do with the rest of my life. Although I have contemplated on counselling for at least another 5 or more years…I am realizing enriching my soul may be a primary option rather than a secondary one.

This is true and “that” is what gives one hope.
