on stubbornness (troiku)

a troiku

you say black
forever trapped
dogged old ways

you say black
another may say white
same old debates

forever trapped
dead
before your time

dogged old ways
life’s diversity
lacking shades of grey

Daily reflections on Stubbornness – September 9/17 (troiku)

Troiku’s a new form of haiku created by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

the beauty within

She used to see sunrises when she was a teen; she would wait by the river, to see the sky break  through grey, blue and magenta.  The anticipation was palpable until the sun slowly rose, she would then give in to slumber until the warm glow upon her face would wake her anew.

They walked along the riverside silently. Occasionally he would put his arm around her waist making sure she did not trip over the mounds on the grass. This would be there last time on the property. So many years passed. So many memories. A lifetime of giggles, squeals and splashing, crying and shouting echo on the water like a thousand and one ghosts. She turns her head slightly to look at her lifetime mate.

Sweet Travels – Daily Moments Aug 27 / 17

(c) Clr – 2014 Yamaska River

Whenever she feels mystical shifts in her mind’s eye she simply allows images to tell their own story.Dusting off old narratives, a surge of waves of old and new dance together playing “catch-me-if-can” until they marry and lock onto a fresh canvas waiting for the artist’s inspiration…

thoughts linger
draped in cobwebs
quieting the mind

thoughts linger
weightless joy
makes her smile

draped in cobwebs
secrets of the night
lie in wait

quieting the mind
rhythmic waves
reaching nirvana

Aw the mind!
offers such sweet passages
to explore

The theme today at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai is ‘shifted flowers’ and the painting I have chosen is an abstract oil painting my aunt did from a photo she took.  She said one morning she walked out onto the garden and was mesmerized with such beautiful colours.

life happens (haibun)

At Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, our host givs us two images of “fractal art” and explains it here:

This image spoke to her with mute passion. Each colour and curve follows a perfectly planned sequence. Memories of stories her grandmother, a mid-wife came to mind. Grand-Maman was led by her compassion and her faith…life happens.

Daily Moments – August 20/17, return of my blue butterfly (troibun)

blue butterflies
even cicada are silent
divine messengers

Image may contain: plant, outdoor and nature

My readers may remember my sharing, the spring, summer and fall after my mother passed, I kept seeing blue butterflies from May  to early November. For some reason, I felt she was hanging around for a while until I was ready. I kept looking for those blue butterflies last year and this year but to no avail until this afternoon.

Walking home I took a different path and I was rewarded for my choice.  Grasshoppers jumped at my feet before moving on to the grassland; bees absorbed solely by sweet nectar and so many to choose from! And then I saw one, two and so many more for the first time in two years…

if blue butterflies
even the cicada would silence
could only sing

if blue butterflies
were really messengers
living in heaven

even the cicada would silence
cardinal croons cheerfully
mid-day serenade

living in heaven
once in perfect harmony
demons and angels

Departure #23

A troiku is a new form of haiku created by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai.

Lazy season (troiku)

call to task
mid-summer harvest
suckling nectar

call to task
butterflies and bees
floating in sweetness

mid-summer harvest
making ready for,
season’s long sleep

suckling nectar
tirelessly collecting
honey’s essentials

(troiku)

children giggling
straw hats in open fields
raspberry smiles

children giggling
one for the basket
and two for me

straw hats in open fields
intent concentration
hovered over bushes

raspberry smiles
a mother’s favourite perfume
sweat mixed with sweetness
