Snowstorms (troiku)

(C)CLR’17

After snowstorms
brisk walks on fresh fallen snow
Renewed peace

After snowstorms
rumbling
Of snow ploughs

Brisk walks on fresh fallen snow
Fluffy and white
Like icing sugar

Renewed peace
Lying on their backs
Making snow angels

man dressed in red
pleading with his bell
fish bowl by his side

man dressed in red
arms filled with parcels
people passing by

pleading with his bell
shouting “’tis the season”
empty bellies wait

fish bowl by his side
prays for silent gifts
not the clink of coins

Wintertime (Fibonacci – Naani – Troiku)

(c) Clr’17

( Fibonacci )
white
snow
brightens
our winters
despite shorter days
enjoying snow melt on my tongue
as I stare agape at the snow clouds in the sky

life
is
so brief
transcending
and temporary
like a snowflake melts on my cheek
and vapours on morning seas vanish effortlessly

( naani )

snow on my balcony
I rest in the warmth of my abode
wishing I were a child again, rolling in the snow
making snow angels as I stare up in the heavens

(troiku)

snow falls
brightening  death
of winter

snowfalls
dressing trees
with white angels

brightening  death
adorning mother’s place
snow covered tombstone

of winter
slumber takes over
melancholy hearts

parting notes (a cherita)

©Clrè17 by the river at Mom’s home

(a cherita)

a time to live, a time to love

she lived with an open heart
compassion her middle name

turned the heads of many men
touched the hearts of all ages
then parted to eternal bliss

~

shrill of the cicadas

drawing one’s attention
piercing and disturbing

transforms to a lullaby
one of nature’s wonders
a call from the other side

no more elevator music on your shopping sprees

spitting Christmas carols like popcorn
lyrics barely touch the souls

push, shove, grabbing the best deal
toddlers missed their mid-day nap
wailing in this zoo

butterfly blue (haibun) Weekly Writing Prompt #117

© Clr’17

The spring after her mother’s death, a butterfly would greet her daily on her way to work. Walking through the bushes behind the building, she would stop to admire the wild daisies and there on a blossom sat a blue butterfly. She  knew it had to be her mother hanging around just a while longer. The thicket served as a rent-free haven. The Landlord upstairs understands how difficult it can be for those left behind.  There is no right or wrong way to mourn…just takes time.

surviving a great loss
her mother
wings of a butterfly

even the sky seizes

sun rays hold steady
on a pale blue backdrop

tiny icicles form
eyelashes melt in liquid blue
exhaling white clouds

Summer breeze ~ Troiku

summer breeze
through the window
quivering blossoms

summer breeze
rustling leaves
muffling moans

through the window
nature procreates
caterwauls

quivering blossoms
stems gyrate with the wind
pure delight

life’s options (troiku – shadorma) Daily moments November 16th/17

(troiku)

autumn simmers
reassessing life’s options
season’s nesting spell

autumn simmers
rolling into sleepy times
winter’s slumber

reassessing life
sitting by a crackling fire
knitting my options

season’s nesting spell
searching under winter skies
making snow angels

(shadorma)

thoughts echo
in my weary brain
telling me
to slow down
run through future options
life is too damn short

wistful moments (a cherita and solo renga -MicroPoetry Month #14)

the old man listens to the melodies

water running over timeless rocks
lyrics swimming in his head

an angel met him here long ago
even fish splashed in the creek
only her memory remains

***

breathing her name
with a long wistful sigh
a tear runs down his cheek

leaves rustle in the wind
a sparrow sings a love song

sitting on the log
the old man smiles
embracing the past
