Daily moments June 3, 2017 – golden rays (troiku)

golden rays bleed
pure joy lifts above the clouds
through blue canvas

golden rays bleed
making faces glow
streaking blue skies

pure joy lifts above the clouds
hearts beating
lovers hand in hand

through blue canvas
artwork changes with each puff
gusts tense the jib

shedding (troiku)

I decided to write a troiku out of my previous haiga; a troiku is a new form of haiku created by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai.

secrets
hidden in sombre clouds
waiting to bleed

secrets
ancient stories
silenced

hidden in sombre clouds
shame, guilt and pent up rage
emotional storms

waiting to bleed
purging all the suffering
to let in rainbows

Daily moments – May 29/17 peace (troibun)

Compassion is the foundation of peace.” Amma

The old woman toiled in her garden for days, her heart filled with such hope…

Planting seeds
deep enough
free from foul play

Planting seeds
filled with love
forming strong roots

Deep enough
as a love struck poet
versed with compassion

Free from foul play
only white doves
spreading world peace

Rose petaled room (troibun). Daily moments May 27-17

The hall was immense and the mood expectant. Hushed chatter all about was the background sound with the occasional exclamations and hugs of recognitions. Everyone was gathering in parties of two’s, five’s or more. It was hard to see who was alone since “loners” smiled at many faces here and there.

The tension was mounting and the hushed sounds became like clattering plates in the kitchen of a cafeteria.

She was in this city for the first time and longed to see her favourite Rock Star. You know the type of music to your ears that moves you? Do you remember your first encounters with “outstanding” and “rocks your socks off”…hmmmm?

A bell sounds and there is complete silence…the musicians are in place, the fans and VIP fans await…

Blessed
with her presence
the crowd fell silent

blessed
the room filled
with her fragrance

With her presence
transcending
a mother’s love

The crowd fell silent
numbed by her radiance
only hearts beating

Daily Moments – reflections of spring – May 15/17 (Troibun)

©Clr’17/05/14 Mother’s Day ’17

Spring is really here, she thinks as she walks along the boulevard. Finally, lawns are brightening from last season’s slumber. Dandelions are starting to poke their heads here and there, a sure sign of warmer times to come. Such a treat to walk outside in lighter clothes, no longer the weight of winter coats and fur lined boots, she ponders as she sneezes and wipes her teary eyes.

scents
tickling her nose

scents
warming her heart
roses for Mother

tickling her nose
along the roadside
dandelions giggle

fresh cut grass
summer in the horizon –
grating lawn mowers

Awakening to the bright sunshine allowed her to take this to mean it would be a hopeful day. Finally a pleasant spring day in May, compared to the cool damp day the days before.

(troiku)

sun shining
belated sprouts triumph
luminosity

sun shining
glowing
with good intentions

belated sprouts triumph
respecting delicate ties
reborn again

luminosity
building strength
weathering storms

As she walked out the door to catch her bus, the sky was overcast. Slightly disappointed, she sighed and checked her mailbox and a glow of sunshine reappeared.

perfum d’espoir (troibun)

There is nothing like the feeling of rich dark soil slip through your fingers when planting a garden. Gloves will only rob you of that sense of life at your fingertips. Think about the erotic sensation of a piece of  cheese cake or decadent truffles; feel the smooth richness on your tongue…

arching their bodies
nature’s sweet arousal
nestling in its moistness
in and out, in and out
worms surrender blissfully

(troiku)

autumn’s last harvest
winter’s table scraps
black gold of gardeners

autumn’s last harvest
feeding sod nutrients
leftover leaves

winter’s table scraps
Mother Nature’s caviar
salivating worms

black gold of gardeners
putrefying stench
parfum de la vie

A troiku is a new haiku form created by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

Written for Poetics Tuesday Dverse-Poetics Pub- Soil Poetics

Today at DversePoetsPub, Björn Rudberg (brudberg) in Poetics wants you to write poetry about soil. This is what he says:

“To me soil is both the source of life, and destiny for death. Soil is where we come from and soil you’ll be:

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust

I both love and hate the scent of mulch. I love the growth and fear decay. I love to walk barefoot in warm dirt, but afterwards I wash my feet.
Soil gives grain for bread, but when the weather fails we die of hunger.
Soil is friend and foe.

There are many synonyms for soil: mulch and compost, dirt and grime, earth and ground all reflect the soil and various values we attribute to its worth.
Soil can be metaphors for land and country, for home and nations. For war and peace and for the roots of trees.
Taste the soil or bite the dust, bring me poetry from what you sense in soil.
Be gravedigger or gardener, be soil of your origin and dig it deep.

awakenings (troiku)

This week at Heeding Haiku with Chèvrefeuille,at MindLoveMiserysMenagerie the haiku theme is “a new day”.  Our host writes…
in the light of dawn
the world looks mysterious
a new day begins
© Chèvrefeuille

So often I start with a haiku and then my muse uses it as a troika (the sleigh) and other thoughts are “pulled” out of those first three lines.  Chèvrefeuille created a new form of haiku call the Troiku.   So here is my troiku to A New Day

as the fog lifts
vibrant skyline returns
a world comes alive

as the fog lifts
aroma of fresh ground coffee
senses awaken

vibrant skyline returns
chanting ever softly
to the rising sun

a world comes alive
fledglings demand their breakfast
cacophony of starlings

love blossoms – Daily Moments – May 7 2017 (Troibun)

The three women walked along the riverside reminiscing of times passed. Approaching an old vegetable garden two of them, scrunched up their noses at the putrid scent. The eldest seemed not to notice the stench and paused looking at a crow cawing on a branch.

(troiku)

graced by a presence
drawn by sweet fragrance
trust and compassion

graced by a presence
divine intervention
a mother’s love

drawn by sweet fragrance
budding promise
faith, hope and love

trust and compassion
if only the world knew
their blessed bouquet

Walking towards her children, one woman contemplated for a long moment. Inhaling a deep belly breath, she paused and felt a spasm in her chest as if her heart was bursting at the seams.
