septembre avance
les nuits frissonnent
l’été prend fin
toutefois, une chaleur me borde
entourer des êtres chers

September moves on
twilight shivers
summer’s end
yet, swaddled in warmth
surrounded by loved ones

sitting on the street

angels everywhere
shed a tear
ripple on a lake

flit and fly
flutter in a field
crawl upon my palm

sitting on the street
lessons of compassion
and humility

loving presence
grandchildren
gifts from heaven

visitations (tanka)

wild and free
takes time to seek me
butterfly flutters
wings of a messenger
tickle my chin

their first kiss…

blushing, she thanks him
roaming the field – leans closer,
her hand feels so soft

I do not know if it is ok for me to publish on my blog a review of my haiku collection, Haiku Rhapsodies, by a fellow blogger in Ghana, Paapa Kwesi Amerado. Mind you, Paapa and I have never met face to face though we visit each other’s blog and live just four hours apart. We do communicate also on FB. And I must add that his copy of HR is a verified purchase. 🙂 As I was saying Paapa wrote this review and sent it to my mail and after reading it, I fell in love with it. Oh yes and I said ‘ah, Cestone, why don’t you post this on your blog?’ Does it sound right? Well, I must market my book, must I not? 🙂

sipping nectar (haibun)

Today on her way to work, she noticed a bumble bee moving ever slightly on the blossom of a black eyed Susan. She hesitated a moment as she would have loved to take a photo but then she walked on thinking a photograph would not even come close to the image she was savouring in her mind.

savouring sweet nectar
bumble bee hums
