In memory of Jane Reichhold – Aug. 7/16 (troibun)

Walking home with her grandson after a wonderful day in the city,  she could not help but admire the sky. Once, her grandson was sound asleep, she read about the sad news…such a loss in the world of haiku. And then, she understood the mysteries of the sky tonight.

dash of white clouds
stand out
in the night sky

dash of white clouds
splash of goodness
wings of an angel

stand out
seventeen syllables
more or less

in the night sky
greets an angel with a smile
crescent moon

And then she read this beautiful haiku  posted  by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, after she had written the above troiku.

stands outs tonight

Daily moments – lost innocence (haibun)

Today, she sits in quiet contemplation. A day of rest for the body and yet, the heart remembers stories of untold secrets that remain silenced. Too many pieces to that puzzle missing, she sighs, wishing she could do more…

no one could resist
weeping
 lost innocence

no one could resist
dancing to wise women’s song
free the children

Somehow, that song and action to free other children around the world soothed her…for today.

After the rain (troiku)

after the rain
running and skipping
on the wet ground

after the rain
birds know the meaning
pot holes are baths

running and skipping
dreams of a rainbow –then,
cries with delight

on the wet ground
steps on his image – splash!
puzzled raised head

Looking up at the sky she smiles having a sense  the moon is smiling down on her. There is this pull that gravity resists and yet, if only she could, she would fly up above the stars and seek comfort in the arms of that man on the moon.

Sitting on the riverbank, she feels the coolness of the rapids and gently drowns in the moment…

riverbed rumbles
swallows chirp while gulls screech
one melody

Thoughts that tear her spirit, slowly slip into the water, flowing with the current, mending her soul.

Daily Moments March 12/16 Waning moon (haibun)

“My oh my, how time flies by these days”, she thought walking slowly from the store with her recycled bags in each hand.  She missed the sun set and the multicolours reflecting on the water and now it had dipped below the horizon rising on another part of the world.  She looked up at the sky turning a darker blue as the waxing moon shone down on her filling her with joy.  She set her bags on the sidewalk for a second and took out her phone aiming it at the sky.  It was difficult to do justice to such splendour.

Six Sentence Story

Daily Moments March 10 20106 ~ an angel is born (haibun)

Walking to work today felt like flying…like her feet were walking just a few cm above the sidewalk. No snow on the pavement , the cool air comfortable at three degrees C and well, it felt like spring is truly coming…

around the corner
takes a sneak peak
searching for Spring

She was thinking of people she knew who were born this day since she had a memory for many old friends of long ago. Ah, yes, her high school  friend who was over 6ft tall.  That was quite unusual for the 60’s and NO ONE teased her. (smiles)  She also had the nicest smile.

And there was her sister’s first boyfriend when they were fifteen. She thought he was cute too but he teased her all the time, singing, “Walks like a boy” because she was tall and slanky with no curves whatsoever at thirteen.  Yes, she remembers him alright. But he was a good friend of her first crush, so she tolerated the taunts.

And now she met someone recently through the grace of internet and poetry …dearest Melinda’s http://melindakucsera.com/2016/03/10/give-truth-a-chance/comment-page-1/#comment-6242 birthday is today, on this 10th day of March…Happy Birthday, kiddo!
