Ten days passed since I had been to work, and since I had marched on that footpath…my shortcut to work.  Today I walked through the bush on this cold sunny day, slipping on the icy patches mourning the dormant shrubs…all I could see now, were patches of brown leaves and branches hugging the snow surface.  I did not take a photo of this new image. No, looking around at the huge change, I needed to mourn the life trampled on by heavy wet snow. Tomorrow will be another day…then, and only then, perhaps shall I photograph  this newly treacherous footpath.

Oh absolutely, your writing always speaks to me. While I’m here–can you advise me about purchasing those “grips” for footwear? Are the steel spike ones better, or not–and which would be both effective and economical? My research left me feeling overwhelmed, and price is always an issue. Thanks in advance.

Mine are plastic grips and it is the first time I have purchased them for only $13 Cdn. but I know a good pair costs at least $20. To find the best recommendation (I was too lazy) check with the post office..the postman usually wear what is best.

Now that is excellent advice–thank you!!! I gather you like the plastic ones, though?

I didn’t try them yet…only moved back to Quebec 5 yrs ago and never needed them in Ontario…will try them tomorrow and let you know.

Thanks Cheryl-Lynn–and I’ll call the P.O. tomorrow, see if I can get someone to answer the phone and offer a pro’s opinion. Mostly around here, the postal folks drive around in little trucks, rather than walking a “beat”.

You’re very sweet, but don’t make it a priority–I realize you have a busier life than mine.

I will try to notice when the postman passed tomorrow before I go to work…I leave work about noon and he passes an hour before.

Gee thanks, Diana. I am always humbled when a haiku was written truly on that exact moment…I took a photograph of the mess bushes today…disheveled reminded me of a bad hair day! And being the daughter of hairdresser, I notice things like that:)

        Cheryl-Lynn,
Old man winter (why an old man?) likes to tease. Stay warm and dry.
