through the darkest hour
every tree top in the forest
adorned with a star

echoes of rustling leaves
trees shudder in mourning

grief deferred
rising star beams with joy

  1. Deferred mourning has meaning for me. Visited the grave of a cousin, a mother to 3 boys that had to be raised by grandparents and an undocumented father.
