journey embraced (haibun)

Living in solitude, eating lightly, controlling the thought, word, and deed; ever absorbed in yoga of meditation, and taking refuge in detachment. Bhagavad Gita

I used to travel by train, bus or car Montreal to Toronto which was about a 5 hour trip; I kept counting how many kilometers I had left to get to my destination. Now I rather take the train and enjoy the scenery…I try to stay awake to enjoy sites I missed all those years when I was in a hurry. That vast Lake Ontario, the farmlands, trees and so many quaint towns we pass along the way now capture my attention.  No longer am I attached to time and destination…the journey is part of the trip.

  1. I love travelling and always try to take the scenic routes when possible. Too many people are in too much of a hurry nowadays – they don’t take the time to appreciate the beauty around them. Great post. 🙂

      1. Yeah. We were going to get internet, really slow internet, but that didn’t work out. Can you believe ALL of the phone jacks in the house were bad? So I can really only check things reliably on Saturdays and that has a time limit as well because our new library is only open for four hours on Saturday and there’s a lot of other work we have to do on Saturdays as well.

I’m randomly at my sister’s for the day and she’s kind enough to let me use their internet.

      2. All the phone jacks were bad here too and it took 3 technicians to finally get it right after two years. I just have internet with a new company that is really cheap and no cable or satellite except Netflix. So never watch tv but hook up my laptop to my screen to watch movies. When I retire I may not be able to afford that either, so I`ll take my laptop or tablet to a coffee shop. Glad you can go to your sister’s too.
