Thunder continues to threaten perhaps another power outag; she places the kettle on the stove…at least there will be tea to sip. Until then, she takes her pen to scratch a word or two before the darkness falls.
drum rolls warn
skies give way
pouring rain
pouring rain
lovers squeeze precious moments
midday nap
starlings seek shelter
nestlings whine in union
earth gulps excess
sodden paths
giggling child splashes
nestlings hope
earth’s open house
worms’ midsummer dance
starling’s patient perch

thanks, Janice, I am digging out some older poems to inspire me. And today am going through some on my other blog since I learned of the passing of a dear friend and blogger, remininscing times together. I am so blessed to have met her and a few amazing people (you are one of them) on my writing journey. I find as we age, we connect so quickly on a spiritual level. ❤

Maybe that is because we have removed part of the armor from our souls. Opening more of our true selves to those we meet.

That is so true, Janice. As much as a child is so open and pure…life experiences sometime build that armour and as we age we slowly remove it…not sure if that is because we are wiser but have experienced pain and acknowledge that, that too is part of life BUT focusing more on the joys rather than the hardships…there are always windows that shine specks of joy and love.
