winter calls me (jisei – troiku – tanka)

(troiku)

trace of autumn
butterfly and bumble bee
lingering

trace of autumn
blossoms resisting
summer’s end

butterfly and bumble bee
hold a secret
the other side

lingering
season closing in
shorter days

soft breeze whistles
golden rays warm my face
life remembered

so much love
mother fed me every day
abundance overflowed
left me plenty
to feed an army

on this muddy path
I walk alone
winter calls me

    1. Thank you, Celestine. I was not sure how it would turn out since we wrote one already for Carpe Diem but there is always room to ponder on this, isn’t there?

  1. Thanks for sharing your link with me, Cheryl-Lynn. There are many images in your troiku that suggest the ending of a life…trace of autumn, season closing, a life remembered, memories of mother. A lovely jisei. I’m glad I got to read it. I’ve never heard of a troiku, but that means nothing, I know there are many forms that I’ve never heard of…now I’m intrigued.

      1. I found Chevrefeuille’s page and remember him from a poetry group we both were members of a few years ago. So I read up on his invented form…it sounds really clever. I’ve written maybe a couple of Haibun, lots of haiku and a few tanka. I really resonate with these short forms too. When done well, they are stunning. However, a Busho, I’m not! 🙂

  2. Yes, this is worth pondering 🙂 Beautiful troiku and haiku…the tanka feels like it should be separate from the others (imho)

  3. Oh I so remember the troiku.. I love how you have filled it with autumn.. it’s most blessed as a death poem, an I do remember that we did them in Carpe Diem.. too bad I do not have time to be there any longer…
