hens fall silent

clucking from the old barn
winner takes all
a cocky tom struts

wolf howls at Hunter’s moon
hush of the forest
rustling leaves taunt

butcher does a head count,

Wonderful Cheryl ! Beautiful haiku stanzas !
The first one is so lofty and classical …. And then the last one is grotesquely admirable !
