There were times when her mother was not ready Sunday mornings for mass and she would ask her daughters to walk to church ahead of her so they would not be late for services.  She promised she would get there in time before the consecration when the bells would chime, “Lord have mercy,” “Christ have mercy”.  Later, she  would hear her mother arriving  …

  1. Hearing those special sounds who are triggering memories aren’t always pleasant. Not so long ago I heard the favorite Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) hit of my brother on the radio. It triggered nice memories, but made me also very sad … My brother died more than 20 years ago and I am still missing him.

    1. so true, Kristjaan, sound is so poignant. I used to play Oscar Peterson for my mother who was in her last stage of Alzheimer and I would see life come back in her eyes. You will always miss your brother, Kristjaan. He was blessed with a sensitive and compassionate brother.
