a drill with ringing bells
children stand in line and face their teachers
popping sounds alarm them all
running for their lives
confused and filled with fear
the tragedy inside the school
&
with sorrow and broken heart we weep
yet salty tears shall comfort slight
too many wounds and losses
youths and adults lament
parents and children fear their future
and unforeseen asylums

My nation’s gun obsession is the bane of my existence. I hate this part of our ‘freedoms’ as it makes our children hostage to violence. Our cowardly politicians refuse to have the balls to stand up for what is right.

I kept thinking of you today…I cannot imagine raising a family in America.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you 😦

To emphasize on maintaining individual rights and privileges of gun-owners the authorities had unwittingly made school children vulnerable! To think it is a repeat of many similar tragedies! Good for bringing it to the fore, Cheryl!

It is so sad. Here in Quebec there are rules and ways to get a gun..I don’t know why this cannot be applied in the U S. It does not take away rights. Just one who gets a driver’s permit…there are rules

The violence in this country is one of the reasons why I don’t want to have children. I can’t imagine raising them in such wicked and evil surroundings. I find much comfort at Psalms 37:10,11 which states, “Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.” I look forward to the time when God Kingdom will rid this world of violence and hatred and we will be reunited with our lost loved ones again.
