June 26. 1926 – Dec 2, 2014
June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day! It is also summer solstice that began last night at 22:28 the longest day (daylight) of the year and the first day of summer. Years ago Summer Solstice and St Jean de Baptiste (June 24) used to be celebrated the same day. I like to think that for a brief time we all came together to celebrate.
For me it is also a day preparing for the celebration of life…Colombe Daudelin, my mom, was born on June 22, 1926…she would be 100 today!!! Alas she left us on December 2014 but she is always with me, my children and my grandchildren as well as anyone who has been touched by her love, her charm, her laughter and joie de vivre and of course the scent of her perfumes.
Scent of Estee Lauder’s Youthdew as a young child…that blue bottle on her vanity and whenever she entered a room, I knew Mommy was near. Scents of Giverny or Guerlain when I was a young adult and the scent I remember most is Clinique Aromatics. Whenever I get a whiff of that scent in public places, I feel her presence…a nice flash visit from heaven.
Thank you for bringing so much joy in our lives…

That look of pride
Etched on your smile
Filled my heart
With gratitude
shoulders back
roaring confidence.
My biggest cheerleader
Oozing with pure love
Giving me assurance
Courage and determination
All that I have achieved in life
Is because of you…thank you!
Happy Birthday, Mom xx
