Poetry ~ Waka

Ah, wind, wind
my saviour today
trees and their leaves
protect me all day
despite this heatwave

This was written during our heatwave last week August 16th – 20th’15
lead me not
old man begs Johnny Walker,
into temptation
lead me not,
there once was a virgin,
into temptation
old man begs Johnny Walker
thinking of good ol’ times,
hangover aside
into temptation
falls upon sweet innocence,
sinful bliss of Rose

She noticed the sky changing and told her friend she must go out to take some photos. But her friend told her to wait the sky would turn a darker pink soon, “You’ll see, it was merveilleux last night!” Twenty minutes later, she notices the sky is just getting greyer..DARN!! She ran out to take a few shots, hoping to salvage a nice souvenir of this evening at her friend’s home surrounded by mountains and cornfields. Ducking a few times from soaring and gliding birds, she actually felt she had intruded on Mother Nature tucking in wildlife.

lost in the cornfield
dimness descends slowly
overwhelmed scarecrow
lost in the cornfield
scurrying with glee
field mice play
dimness descends slowly
sun dips behind Mont Bromont
pause in despair
overwhelmed scarecrow
sparrows zooming overhead
pompous feathered friends

Inspired by the Lovely Lolly’s scarecrow haiku. Visiting her blog is such a delight at Foralovelything
new scarecrow …
already a field mouse pokes
around its fly

(troiku)
heckling crows
irritating to mortals
scarecrow’s blank stare
heckling crows
mock the hopeless dummy
stuffed with straw
irritating to mortals
the enigmatic calls warn,
little critters sneer
scarecrow’s blank stare
his gruesome fate awaits-but
ignorance is bliss

Carpe Diem Special #161 Lolly’s third “new scarecrow …”
Three Word Wednesday – enigmatic – gruesome – irritate
She chats on the phone this warm August day with her son checking up on how he was doing with his summer cold. It is ragweed season combined with the humidity at 65 – 70%…breathing can be challenging for many.
At one point he shouts on the phone, “Oh no! A bird just stole a raspberry from MY plant and he’s holding it in his beak now! I gotta go! ” She chuckles thinking, “It is free for the picking if you just leave them there.” He has raspberries and blueberries that she got a glimpse of when sitting for the girls (German Shepherd mix gals that is) a month ago. He truly is blessed with a lovely back yard that serves him what he needs…a few apple trees and a few berry bushes. But you know the old saying, “You snooze, you loose.” This little bird “grabbed” this opportunity!

Normally this prompt requires 5 sentences; just for fun I thought I would try to tell a story in five lines in a Tanka. Written for five sentence Fiction

She sits with mixed feelings, watching the sun set. The wind picks up from le Mont Royale on the rooftop. She is saddened to see such beauty leave her hemisphere. And then she smiles, reminded that as she bows in reverence thinking of her friends on the other side.
star of my heart
baring thy omnipresence
fills me with bliss
star of my heart
so much love to share
radiance released
baring thy omnipresence
all-pervading love unfolds
rising in the East
fills me with bliss
whispering good morning
my brothers’ new dawn
