Heaven beams
devotees hear her message
love is the way

heaven beams
chanting heard from the ashram
new dawn

devotees hear her message
raising their arms in praise
Amma speaks

Love is the way
we must all do our share
we are one

greeting new dawn (haiga – troika)

I was inspired by this beautiful photo from a post at Karuna Poole, my friend’s blog  at LivingLearningandLettingGo here she shares a special morning in her garden.

Tranquil moments
Mother Nature’s morning
salutations

tranquil moments
wind whispers
new day

Mother Nature’s morning
wings stretch
tip to tip

salutations
honouring first dawn
the crow calls

Sadness (troiku)

– Zwobel

(troiku)

alone by the tracks
train toots planned arrival
her dad never comes

alone by the tracks
despair hits her hard
left with not a care

train toots planned arrival
her long awaited father
cares not to show up

her dad never comes
broken promises fill her heart
grief her middle name.

Love thee (troiku)

I originally composed this troiku this morning with the thoughts of my walk through the thicket last week on my way to work. I had been mesmerized and filled with grace looking at the wild flowers and one sole tiny blue butterfly fluttering from one flower to the next.

A blogger, Brenda from Friendly Fairy Tales, suggested “Perhaps the butterfly was a messenger of love from an admirer. A reminder to love yourself and value even the steps that you take to get to work. The in-between time is the most magic and free. I used to love driving, it felt so free being in-between one place and another.”

However, when I got home tonight I took a little peak at Carpe Diem since I had not had time to look in the past three days and I noticed the Time Glass prompt, First Celebration and found my offering fitting for this prompt as well.  Serenidipty hits again.

amid thicket
daisies stand at attention
sun beams in awe

amid thicket
birds tweet in salutation
blue butterfly flits

daisies stand at attention
buttercups wild yet humble
grass waves delight

sun beams in awe
butterfly flutters with glee
nature’s gift to thee

blue butterfly flits
silently communes with thee
love thee first, then all

Chez Alice (haibun)

Sunday brunch had become a tradition for these ladies. Some were divorced; a few never tied the knot and one widowed. They met at work years ago and since  had all retired. For many retirement meant either long overdue travelling with their mate or slipping away into oblivion, but not these ladies.   They  seemed like born again “girls”. They went on road trips together, started a book club, hosted social teas,  attended art exhibits and often took to the streets now and then advocating for change.

budding promise (troiku)

fleeting blossoms flit
barely a trace

weathered
budding promises
hope or despair

innocence lost

Depression can be a passage in time life offers one to take stalk of one’s life; other times it can be more complex…meeting up with past traumas, a chemical imbalance and the brain needs a boost of “vitamins”, a professional who accompanies one through the darkness so they don’t stumble in those twists and turns in that labyrinth of a tunnel…perhaps it is a moment to grieve which I often call a “necessary depression” to take the time one needs to mourn a loss…to recognize and embrace that moment even when it hurts.   I remember telling a youth embracing suffering sounds so absurd but picture embracing a cactus! and once you have felt the pain, with a supportive listener helping you detach from the needles of that plant, a lightness is felt and finally one may find enlightenment.
