spring draws giddiness (troibun)

As an extra to NaPoWriMo 2016, I noticed on Facebook, it is Haiku Day on the 17th day of April in this National Poetry Month.

Here is my Troibun …

Spring is definitely here!  It was the warmest it has been since last September at 20 C!!  Walking in that glowing sun even as late as 1:30, my heart felt so light!  Watching people out and about,  some  even wearing sandals and sleeveless dresses, you could not help but catch the fever of spring.

sunglasses kiss my face
shading my eyes

in the wind
birds coasting on the tail end
getting a free ride

wearing flip-flops
premature sundresses
giddy with life

N is for night crawlers (troibun)

N is for night crawlers that come to life after a warm summer rain. There is nothing more sensual and soothing than rain showers at night. Raindrops fall like ivory keys creating bittersweet melodies.

M is for Marigold (haibun)

a beautiful photo from a wordpress blog at LearningasIgotips

After sowing the seeds for her vegetables, she plants marigolds around her garden. The flowers outline the entire garden like frame embellishes artist’s canvas. The scent wards off unwelcome guests.

K is for Kite (Haibun)

He walks to the beach with his little guy whose eyes are wide and sparkling. The sun is glowing and there is a gentle breeze. “Just perfect”, his grandfather says.

J is for Joy (Troibun)

Life offers many joys. One just has to stop and notice they are here even in the saddest times, under grey clouds and personal strife. She shuffles reflecting on her solitude wistfully aiming for the city park.

NaPoWriMo 2016 Day 12

the tax man (haibun)

Government agencies and financial institutions work like robots. They are like gigantic calculating machines that never see names but numbers. We are all numbers. They send mail to a deceased person even 14 months after their passing…establishments neglecting to correct records even if family members spend hours getting that done on the phone, in person and by registered mail. This time of year used to be dreaded by many who may owe money but for her, it is just dreaded to be reminded that this person is no longer here and when she gets mail, she can’t even write on the envelope “return to sender”.
