A little bit about moi:
I am a mom, a nana, a sister, a woman, a friend, a human being…a youth counsellor, Family Life Educator.
I have been working in the helping profession for over 25 years and volunteered in various capacities from youths to seniors.
Tournesol is my nom de plume for haiku and other Japanese form poetry here at Tournesoldansunjardin https://cheryllynnroberts.wordpress.com I hope you enjoy reading through my daily waka.
I also have another blog "Stop the Stigma" where I may stand on my soapbox now and then and hope it will become a place to drop in and share or comment on issues important to you. In that vein this could be a great way to learn from each other.

Usually in haiku we try to write nice things, but the prompt said to write about social issues…so there you have it. I was thinking mostly in the middle east and India

I am from India. A mindset of violence, dominance and patriarchy is abound in many people throughout the world. Yes, there are places where instances that you refer to in your tanka take place relatively in larger numbers, but that doesn’t mean that only these places are plagued by such social issues. For instance, the countries with the most cases of child sexual abuse include countries such as UK and US as well.
Just thought of putting across my thoughts. Please do not mind.

I don’t mind at all. I am a youth counsellor in Canada, so I do hear of atrocious abuse too often. When it comes to violence of this nature there is NO discrimination all over the world.

Saddening. The idea of humanity is shamed by such incidences of brutality. Powerful writing, Cheryl.

Thank you…on my other blog at Traces I talk more blatantly about the dark side of humans all over the world because it must be talked about it until it stops.
