I took another long route to work today. After a snow storm, I love to see the trees covered with thick snow, many streets only one side is plowed. This reminds me when I drove to work at 6pm. I had to move my car to the other side so the snow plow could clear the street. There was usually always a warning, a truck drives up ahead with flashing lights and honks to warn a few drivers to move their vehicle, otherwise they get a hefty ticket.
Today I was in awe at the parks and the trees. Of course I felt sorry for the cyclists because we have many avid winter cyclists who often have trouble finding their bike in the huge snow banks the snow plows created. Today it was wet heavy snow and the streets were slushy. My feet were soaken wet…guess my boots are not as waterproof as I thought.

Such a beautiful sight it must be. Though the wet shoes can’t be very good.

I know…I took photos last year of bikes that were crunched up and mangled by the snow plows

Those are some diehard bikers, riding in the winter. Hope they got reimbursed ’cause they were on a bike rack. It’s only fair.

I doubt it…I was too tired to take photos of the bikes next to our office building…they are all on a special rack for bikes so theywon’t get clobbered:)

That’s tough, wonder if they can get reimbursed for that. Couple weeks ago two kids got buried by passing snow plow and survived. Took them a while to find them.

Oh yes, this has happened with adults too…as for the bikes…no, they should put them on the side walk actually rather than on the side of the street

I just gathered my niece, nephews and their friend around my computer to look at your pictures of snow and we all wailed that we don’t have any!

Well it will soon melt because it is too mild but in the big city of Montreal it will take longer I suppose…I heard the truck honking a few minutes ago to clear the street. I live off the island but in front of a mall, so I will hear my 4 to 5 plows all night…my lullaby concert:)

That’s what my mom used to say about the swamp cooler fan during hot summer nights. She called it ‘Lullaby from the Attic Fan.’

Poor bicyclists! “I know my bike is in here *somewhere*…….” 😦
But it’s gorgeous, though — simply beautiful.

Oh my … so much snow … and how I remember cold wet feet. Ia also remember your photos of the deformed bikes from the snow plows. It seems strange that people would still leave their bikes out, I’m sure everyone must have seen those results! Lovely haibun!

I totally agree, Georgia! Why they leave the bikes near the curb is beyond me. When I lived in the city, I brought my bike up the stairs into my apartment or locked it under the stairwell. I remember you wrote a cute poem for the bikes last year too:) Let’s see if I get more odd photos this year.

I love winter bicycling … but too much snow is so heavy.. I would hate to have to dig up my bike also…

Well then, you would have stored it inside the sidewalk or near the home:) Many Montrealers cycle in the winter and they are still permitted to ride the Métro with their bikes
