A little bit about moi:
I am a mom, a nana, a sister, a woman, a friend, a human being…a youth counsellor, Family Life Educator.
I have been working in the helping profession for over 25 years and volunteered in various capacities from youths to seniors.
Tournesol is my nom de plume for haiku and other Japanese form poetry here at Tournesoldansunjardin https://cheryllynnroberts.wordpress.com I hope you enjoy reading through my daily waka.
I also have another blog "Stop the Stigma" where I may stand on my soapbox now and then and hope it will become a place to drop in and share or comment on issues important to you. In that vein this could be a great way to learn from each other.

It’s the waiting, the waiting to make it safely to shore, that’s so hard…

I know…I used to sail only on a 16 ft catamaran but when we didn’t see shore and the wind either picked up or died, I sure felt it took forever to get back with those little paddles we kept in our hulls. I can only imagine sailors. A friend was in the Navy and would be gone for 6 months on a submarine…I would go mad.

I liked the tone of this haiku … really very very nice and coupling it to the painting was brilliant. Lovely post.

The sailor’s emotions get the centre stage in your Haiku, Cheryl. That’s why I feel it stands out. The lighthouse – the signal of relief… Loved your take on the prompt 🙂

I’m so glad you picked up on this! I can only imagine fishermen or sailors who leave for long periods of time how it must feel for them leaving so much behind but to provide for those they love.
