Lucky Seven baby Haibun
It was windy and raining on this 7th day of November. We were expecting our first child, the 7th grandchild in the Gagnon family. Regardless of the prenatal classes, we were still very jittery and feeling unsure when would be the right time to drive to the hospital after 11 hours counting the minutes, but I phoned a friend who had 2 children and she advised us, it was time.
Still feeling nervous, your father used humour hoping it would dull the contractions…not really, but it is still a funny story to tell, now. At each contraction, he would sing, “I can’t get noooo… ConnnnTraction” all the way to the hospital. Again, not knowing how severe the pain was, he parked the park in the parking lot and we had to walk quite a ways, stopping sometimes, to hear that Rolling Stone “song” [chuckles]
And by noon a beautiful baby son, you, blessed us. You were the cutest baby and have grown into an amazing person with a beautiful family …you are a wonderful son, husband and father. Happy birthday, Olivier.
