Departure #23

A troiku is a new form of haiku created by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai.

Lazy season (troiku)

call to task
mid-summer harvest
suckling nectar

call to task
butterflies and bees
floating in sweetness

mid-summer harvest
making ready for,
season’s long sleep

suckling nectar
tirelessly collecting
honey’s essentials

Haiku Horizons: Stop

nature’s patience – troiku

Our host, Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, gives us this painting to inspire our writing waka. I have chosen to write a Troiku, which is a new form of haiku created by Chèvrefeuille.

(troiku)

disrobing slowly
winter’s slumber lies in wait
blushing

disrobing slowly
watching with heightened interest
lusting

winter’s slumber lies in wait
calculating
patience

blushing
shades of pink and amber
the old maple tree

contradictions reflected Daily Moments August 5 2017

staying up all night
searching like a fool
wishes come in dreams

wrapped in self-pity
lined with self-righteousness
seams that cry “why me”

such strange bedfellows
living in a paradox
passion and despair

prisoner of self-doubt
fooled by ancient fairy tales
power is within

waking up hungry
waiting for the sun to rise
crunching cheerios

the hidden promise (troibun)

At Heeding haiku with Chèvrefeuille at MindLoveMiserysMenagerie, our host asks us to write a haibun (prose with a haiku or tanka) inspired by the sculpture below.  I looked up the artist, Matteo Pugliese and discovered the name of this piece is La Promessa…

I discovered a new form of poetry last month called The Cherita at Celestine’s blog Reading Pleasure, a gifted Haiku poetess; the Cherita was created by al li.   Rather than using prose, I am telling my story with two Cherita followed by a Troiku which is a new form of haiku created by Chèvrefeuille. I name my haibun a troibun since troiku is the core.

La Premessa by Matteo Pugliese

The hidden promise (Troibun)

The Cherita

aggravation started bubbling unexpectedly

all those hopes and fantasies
never seeing the dawn of day

sadness and self-pity
wrapped inside a duvet
used to comfort her

pointing fingers and blaming life is so less painful

staying up late at night
wishing upon a star

waking up dismayed
feeding on crestfallen
crunching on uncertainty

(troiku)

captive
all those years – stalling
prisoner of self-doubt

captive
wall of hidden truths
fooled to feel helpless

all those years –stalling
that prince of fairy tales
held inside a web

prisoner of self-doubt
unrequited promises
trapped inside her soul

Daily Moments – speechless (haiga) July 31 & August 1, 2017

I just noticed this prompt at Carpe Diem #1228 sunset (CD Imagination)   today and decided to include my “daily moments”  haiga at work yesterday, which just happened to be written July 31st.

During a long counselling call, I looked out the window and noticed the sunset…I could not run up on the roof for a short break so I took a photo from my I-Phone …

silence
of a fading sky
nature’s last act

Today, looking at this photo again, my muse whispered her impressions…

brush strokes
with raging passion
on blazing sky
liquefying
on tawny seas

guarding the cornfield (troiku)

A troiku

perched on his post
overseeing the cornfield
cawing his presence

perched on his post
watching the sun rise slowly
behind the old barn

overseeing the cornfield
scurrying unnoticed
mice squeal with delight

cawing his presence
even the old scarecrow
stands at attention

the old woman – Troiku

(troiku)

marked with age spots
the old woman holds out a cup
with gnarled fingers

marked with age spots
having lived a long life
beauty rewritten

the old woman holds out a cup
invisible to society
people hurry by

with gnarled fingers
shelled nuts from her secret stash
feeds the squirrels

whispering promise (troibun)

As a child August meant school was around the corner.  With mixed feelings she anticipated a new school year, that smell of fresh ink on new books, her best handwriting on that first page of her scribbler and so much promise to fill her mind…learning anew. Of course there were new students arriving in her little town and new relationships forming opening her heart she smiles, waiting with anticipation.   And yet, as months progress death looms in the air as leaves fall and grounds reek of decay…

(a troiku)

autumn leaves whisper
echoing
that first je t’aime

autumn leaves whisper
endings or new beginnings
paradox of life

echoing
mistakes repeated
over and over

that first je t’aime
fairy tale or mystery
still unresolved
