special day (fibonacci and naani)

joy
felt
seeping
through my pores
kinfolk stopover
unexpected precious embrace
my lips are smiling as I Iisten to my heart sing

tap
tap
tapping
my feet to the tunes
rising my soul to paradise
such miracles can only come from the universe.

vision of grace
red leaves on branches
poised
enduring hope

grey skies return
housekeeping never done
closing season
winter’s duvet awaits

Micropoetry Month – November 5th,  2017 – Daily moments

We are asked to write a Fibonacci with as many lines as we wish following the Fibonacci sequence. I tried to keep it short (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13) and closed with two naani poems.

deceiving beauty (naani)

At MicroPoetry Month November 4th, we are inspired by the naani poetry form.

autumn sunshine
misleading yet welcoming
memories of summer
blind my eyes

weekend respite
playing it by ear
unexpected family visit
heartened soul

birthdays come and gone
age just a number
feels like yesterday
my first born

I am enjoying MicroPoetry Month very much. Since I have not had much time to write as much lately, this offers me an opportunity to still write my “daily moments”reflections of my day in short forms. It is also a wonderful occasion to get out of my comfort zone and try other poetry forms outside of Waka.

NaaniNaani is one of Indian’s most popular Telugu poems. Naani means an expression of one and all. It consists of 4 lines, the total lines consists of 20 to 25 syllables. The poem is not bounded to a particular subject. Generally it depends upon human relations and current statements. This poetry was introduced by one of the renowned Telugu poets Dr. N.Gopi, presently working as vice-chancellor to Telugu University, Andhra Pradesh.

friday night hotlines (A cherita) Daily Moments Novemer 3, 2017

last call of the night

adjusts the volume hearing soft whimpering
listening to a new tale

shock and grief coats her sullen voice
listening with empathetic resignation
a story unfolds of love and loss.

*******

shuffling home slowly at one in the morning

my mind holds too many tales
I long for days of rest

three days I shall escape with my muse
writing to my heart’s content
while eating comfort food

November skies (solo renga)

Solo Renga

different shades of grey
misty skies and barren trees
autumn’s dark demise

lavish colours washed away
November’s final purge

wise ones flying south
joining other feathered friends
honking their goodbyes

last splash of pink
blending with a darkened sky
colour it purple

enter twilight
dusk turning

Clouds no longer form shapes in the sky. All one sees now is grey and greyer. Wind gusts and rain make the trees flap their arms shedding their leaves that are still green! The day is coming and we feel it in our bones due to the dampness, the cold and daunting night of Hallow’s Eve.

stars hiding
behind heavy billows
filled with tears

stars hiding
waiting to shine
on All Hallow’s Day

behind heavy billows
stories retold
of revered saints

filled with tears
dressed as an angel
dropped all her candies

cobwebs hang on doors
everyone plays “dress-up”,
shouting, “trick or treat!

old lady wringing her hands
“well, now my little pretties!”

handing out bags of treats
children grab and run

Sweet dreams of love (solo no renga)

decades
of love affairs
reminiscent dreams

Marvin Gaye reminding me
how sweet it is

thinking of you
lightheaded and giddy
breathing in your scent

help me before I fall in love
all over again

melancholy dreams
a case of you so bittersweet
my soul still bleeds
