Inspired by Ese’s haiku at CDHK
inevitable
the dance of a falling leaf
with a snowflake

***************

first snowfall
finally
sorrows veiled

first snowfall
leaves,
grief to rest

finally
lifts weight of shadows
balance restored

veiled sorrows
giddiness of snowflakes
pretence of joy

carpet of colours Troiku ~ Haiga

coloured leaves beauty

crunch echoes
blanket of leaves on lawns
lift spirits

leaves steps

crunch echoes
autumn melody
happy refrain

lawn covered with leaves

blanket of leaves on lawns
add lively colours, before
deep freeze

blue skies

lift spirits
brilliant blue skies
clouds forming smiles

CDHK – Happiness

Falling into happiness (troiku)

Wikipedia – Double Dutch

fallen leaves – yet,
heaps of fun transformed
 skipping rope

fallen leaves – yet,
multi-coloured blankets
cover lawns

heaps of fun transformed
youngsters’ plunging gleefully
grand-daddy smiles

 skipping rope
Indian summer lingers
playing double-dutch

On church steps
showered with blessings
Christmas Eve snowfall

on church steps
laughing, hugging, well wishes
Yule tidings

showered with blessings
watches her loved ones savour
love spiced stuffing

Christmas Eve snowfall
florets floating softly – rest
on rosy cheeks

Prompt at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai was “Happiness” today

filtered light (troiku)

Moonlight gaze filtered
lovers stare up at the stars
steam of hot springs

moonlight gaze filtered
love swimming in their gaze
starry eyes

lovers stare up at the stars
huddled closer feel
their heartbeat

steam of hot springs
heat running through their veins
midnight lust

Haiku Horizons “steam”

*******************************

A poem by Ramesh

Here is a beautiful poem I would like to share from another poet/blogger who writes a beautiful tribute to his wife.  This poem totally mesmerized me more than passion can sustain, but the words of a long, lasting true love here at Rameshood.blogspot.com

जब साँझ ढले Gangs of Mango Trees..

Written for Haiku Horizon Prompt: Steam..
Shared with Haiku My Heart/..Gangs of Mango Trees

She balances his
steaming food box on her head;
hot sun-filled fields

**

Hot sun-filled fields;
steamy gossips and happier
gangs of  mango trees

**

Gangs of mango trees;
night is still with no more steam
in the chilled air..

Dear Blogger friend, You will honour me by reading the below mentioned  too,,,,

In celebration of Deewali, the festival of lights, Here’s a  Hindi Poem, first time  on this Blog..dedicated to my wife.. who has supported me through thick and thin..

For my non-Hindi Speaking friends let me share the essence..

In the poem here, I talk about the need for a husband and wife to walk together hand in hand in the evening of life..confidently without fear having full trust in God.. I pray to them to spend time enjoying the gifts of nature, resting under the trees, listening to songs of birds, talking to stars.. living a full life..    The poem is my way of saying thanks to my dear wife.. We have had a lovely time together. She has supported me all the way through thick ‘n’ thin for all the 33 years.. This is my way to say thanks to her.. READ ON but before that…

A VERY HAPPY DEEWALI , THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS, TO YOU ALL… STAY BLESSED…

dancing in the wind (troiku)

Freestyle dancing
rhythm of the wind
last tango

freestyle dancing
swaying to autumn’s hum
fickle puffs

rhythm of the wind
catch the locomotion
nature’s refrain

last tango
autumn’s last abandon
free and footloose

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

Last Dance Video by Cheryl-Lynn R.’15

late night walk (Shasei- troiku)

Tonight I walked home from work after eleven and just soaked up what I saw and stopped a few moments to take photos to capture those moments. I got to the Métro and wrote this troiku immediately before losing that feeling I had just a few moments ago.  Of course these are ” Shasei” rather than haiku developped into a troiku.

Walking home
slippery streets mock
autumn leaves

walking home
beauty swells in the light
silent night
~
slippery streets mock
I walk gingerly
catch a twilight view
~
autumn leaves mock
cold and wet – yet,
colour my world

Carpe Diem Haiku Writing Techniques #16 (Shiki’s) Shasei

“Though this technique is often given Shiki’s term Shasei (sketch from life) or Shajitsu (reality), it has been in use since the beginning of poetry in the Orient. The poetic principle is “to depict the thing just as it is“…He favored the quiet simplicity of just stating what he saw without anything else happening in the haiku. He found the greatest beauty in the common sight, simply reported exactly as it was seen, and ninety-nine percent of his haiku written in his style. Many people still feel he was right.”

(troiku)

sitting alone
echoes of laughter afar
I see darkness

sitting alone
daydream of my homerun
I smile

echoes of laughter afar
thinking of Grandpa’s riddle
I chuckle

I see darkness
eyelids getting heavy,
sitting alone

Hunter’s Moon (troiku)

clucking from the old barn
wolf howls at Hunter’s moon
hens fall silent

clucking from the old barn
winner takes all
a cocky tom struts

wolf howls at Hunter’s moon
hush of the forest
rustling leaves taunt

hens fall silent
butcher does a head count,
Thanksgiving

Haiku Horizons “silent”

Sensual Feeling (Cascade – haibun – Troiku)

( Cascade )

music feeds the soul and moves the body
instigating spells on her existence
rhythm and blues sink into her essence
that’s when she got a taste of true freedom

searching in all the wrong places for release
it’s always been there, free for the taking
cannot be purchased in stores or on-line
music feeds the soul and moves the body

she was in limbo for too many years
fighting urges to act impulsively
until she explored deep into her soul
instigating spells on her existence

she found herself one lonely afternoon
taking out her old turntable she played
Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson
rhythm and blues sink into her essence

it felt like being possessed by these tunes
her body moved mindlessly and freely
swayed to Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing
that’s when she got a taste of true freedom

********************************************************************

A Cascade reminds me a bit of a Troiku, so I also added the sense of “freedom” one gets from dancing to being midst nature and all its beauty with a Troiku.

(Haibun – troiku)

(c) Clr’15

Nature offers such freedom that dance does liberating the soul, reacquainting with one’s inner child and admiring as if seeing for the first time. Before such liberation, one walks around with jaded lenses. What a joy to “see” again the vibrant colours and experiences of each season.

(Troiku)

nature’s charm
grace of a butterfly
golden blossoms sigh

nature’s charm
seduced the lonely woman
long last – awakened

grace of a butterfly
tickled the child within
made her gasp

golden blossoms sigh
daisies coo – Pick Me, Pick Me
tranquil bliss

“Dance, when you’re broken open. Dance, if you’ve torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you’re perfectly free.” ― Rumi
