when all the guests leave (Troiku)

boisterous energy
 guests finally take their leave
silence is deafening

boisterous energy
contagious laughter
warms her heart

guests finally take their leave
savours cup of camomile
trace of loneliness

silence is deafening
conversations in her mind
mute the quiet

healing elements (troiku)

(Troiku)

inner turmoil
deafening – rapids roar
seagulls squeal

inner turmoil
charging waves swell with passion
into waters, spill

deafening – rapids roar
echoes of my rumbling soul
searching inner peace

seagulls squeal
harmonize, my soul’s refrain
puffs over current

OctPoWriMo – 9 How the elements affect me – water – By the river rapids, I feel all stress dissipate slowly dripping into the water, flowing with the current.

The Troiku is a new form of haiku created by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

(troiku)

trace of autumn
butterfly and bumble bee
lingering

trace of autumn
blossoms resisting
summer’s end

butterfly and bumble bee
hold a secret
the other side

lingering
season closing in
shorter days

soft breeze whistles
golden rays warm my face
life remembered

so much love
mother fed me every day
abundance overflowed
left me plenty
to feed an army

on this muddy path
I walk alone
winter calls me

along the river
autumn colours adorn

along the river
water turning bluish grey
frigid ripples

autumn colours adorn
public parks and highways
nature’s last show

bike trail runs along the keys
season’s last ride

Waiting (troiku)

waiting
window gazing she knows
I’m here for the night

waiting
sleeps in her five beds
knowing I`ll come home

window gazing she knows
twenty-four buses pass
then I waltz in

I’m here for the night
never a doubt that I am
her night companion

autumn sky (troiku – haiga)

autumn sky
rush of tints, blush –
infuse me

autumn sky

autumn sky
vibrant, so blue
shy of clouds

rush of tints, blush –
ambers and hennas
evocative

infuse me
my last reward – before,
stillness takes over

after the storm (haiku – troiku)

    (haiku)

looks in the mirror
puffy eyes and mouth,
after the storm

after the storm
a thousand “I’m sorry’s”
sounds of white noise

(troiku)
in the looking glass
shades of black and blue
after the storm

in the looking glass
stranger stares back
void of life

shades of black and blue
dreams of rainbow colours
pretends life is fine

after the storm
a hundred and one promises
until the next

Haiku Horizons “after”

Carpe Diem Tokubetsudesu #62 Troiku

late frost ( Jisei)

This is the last haiku by Basho.  It is now known as his “death poem” or Jisei.

ill on a journey
my dreams start to wander
across desiccated fields

© Matsuo Basho (Tr. Chèvrefeuille)

It’s very common in classical  times that poets wrote their death-poem, the last poem of their life.

Here is our host’s Jisei

my dreams wander
along the path of my life …
Honeysuckle blooms

Honeysuckle blooms
sharing her sweet perfume
I dream away

Today on my way to work I was shocked to see new blossoms in the thicket. Most of the flowers are dying except for sunflowers growing through the concrete in the street and tiny daisies among dead bushes.   The bees were busy kissing every flower they could find today and one lone blue butterfly winked at me.

a bed of daisies
unusual blossoms
end of season

a bed of daisies
lie in wait
like poppies

unusual blossoms
caress my weary bones
butterfly kiss

end of season
contemplating
a late frost

 love still to spare –
liquid blues gaze,
purple veils magenta skies

that cobweb (troiku)

the end is near
oh! that hanging cradle –
cobweb

the end is near
live today – like,
no tomorrows

oh! that hanging cradle
gently rocks,
to a heartbeat

cobweb
holding the mind
hostage

angelic vibrations (troiku)

I was inspired after reading Magical Mystical Teacher in “Door”.  When I saw that photo, my heart was drawn to it since I love doors and my mind wandered to a place a few years ago attending a recital in an old church where this amazing musician allowed her fingers to float over her harp like an angel of grace.  And so I used MMT’s last haiku as the Troika which is the sleigh, the base haiku from which I am starting to write this troiku

Noxious vapours flee
at the sound of harp and lyre—
the old door trembles

© 2015 by Magical Mystical Teacher

noxious vapours flee
each new breath
heavenly sighs

at the sound of harp and lyre –
celestial visions
pull my heart strings

the old door trembles
coughing exaltation
 I shudder
