There’s a Summer Blog Party going on at Jaqueline’s Blog from ACookingPotandTwistedTales. This poem written by Jaqueline inspired me to write a cascade of Haiku. We are encouraged to Tag Poem her Summer Tale poem…
A little Summer tale…
We wore Summer dresses
spun like flower coloured cotton
that sat on each stalk.

soft and ruby red –

She thought about her speech she was chosen to give for her group. Her spiritual advisor had chosen her to give her confidence and believe in herself after working for months on her spiritual growth. She had scrunched up dozens of paper already, never satisfied with her words. She closed her eyes and repeated her mantra which usually helped to calm her mind and then like magic, her muse took over.
“I hope to convey my learnings these past months where I have searched deep inside of my soul and am pleased to have found my true self.
I exist because I am who I am
I desire enlightenment
at this stage of my life
I hope to gain insights
as I continue to search my soul
I do believe there is a higher consciousness
and trust my Higher Power will guide me
I shall let go and let myself be
in the hands of The Great Spirit,
Whom I love
and now,
I am prepared
to receive His love and blessings.

Heeding Haiku with Chèvrefeuille at MindLoveMiserysMenagerie
(182 words)

with a late spring
even dandelions
embracing colours
with a late spring
April showers of emotions
in May
even dandelions
scatter about
with grace
embracing colours
lilacs and apple blossoms
rose coloured lips

a slice of blue sea (Ubugu)
heat dances above the horizon
childhood memories come to mind (Chèvrefeuille)
What a beautiful hokku! Chèvrefeuille’s completion brings to mind fond memories of long ago. As a child she recalls lying on her back under the maple tree.

Strolling on a quiet street close to two in the afternoon, she is reminded of this special time in the day when her children were little. When they were babies they were napping and as toddlers, they were told it was quiet time and they would play quietly in their rooms for an hour. Sometimes they would read and fall asleep. There was often resistance but she knew they needed time to refuel. Their crankiness was a sure sign of a welcoming rest.
She walked passed a row of trees along the railway tracks in front of the houses. Humming sounds of city traffic further away and one particular tree seemed to have some commotion going on.

Sometimes it is best not to know what some people think about you especially if it will only break your heart. It is so much easier seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses even if there is suffering in the world, why not let the good outweigh the bad?

This retro postcard I saw at The Muscleheaded Blog inspired me…thanks, Chris. This could have been my maternal grandparents after WWI in a town near Montréal, Gervaise regard dans les yeux de son bien aimé, Elphège.
